The Civil War in southwestern Virginia was one of the key issues in their history. This volume contains the roster and personal data on members of various units. These Units are: 37th, 48th, 63rd, Regiments, 26th, 30th, 13th, King’s, Davidson’‘s, Jefrey’s, Barr’s, Baldwin Battalions, and the 1st and 21st Cavalry. In the personal data you get the rank, Company, Regiment, Brigade, Division, and Army with remarks. This latter item is where you find information about their wounds, deaths, transfers etc.

Hannum, W. Y. C. 1st Lt., Co. B 48th Inf. 2nd Brig., 1st Div. Army of Northern VA - elected Capt. in 1862 - lost leg at Cedar Mtn. Aug 9, 1862, living in Blunt [Blount] Co. TN March 1913. etc. etc.”
