This alphabetical listing of the tax payers from 1793 to 1800 give a good listing of those living in the county for these years before the 1800 census that does not exist for the county. These records are taken from seventeen different lists that are on file at the Virginia State Archives for the county for these years. The various districts are listed and the names of their captains are given on a listing in the front of the volume. The rest of the volume is a chart showing the names and dates they appear on the tax roll.
