Located in southwestern Virginia, Wythe County is found on the migration route from the Shenandoah Valley towards Kentucky and Tennessee. This 1860 transcription is important as it is the last census before the Civil War when so many citizens were lost or disappeared due to the war. This transcription gives the dwelling and family number with the names, age and sex of each of the persons living in the household. Also included are the occupations, and real and personal values.
