This compilation of early records for the county of Holmes contains tax lists for the years 1833, 1837, and 1845; the 1850 slave schedule from the federal census; newspaper abstracts including marriages, deaths, business transactions and advertisements, estate notices, crimes, letters at the Post Office and divorces; abstracts of Will Book I (1833-1888), which gives the names of all persons mentioned; and 45 brief family genealogies of early settlers of the county.
