Poquoson Families: The Forrest Family of the Poquoson District, York County, Virginia [paper]

$26.50

This text comprises the expanded second edition of the Poquoson Watermen (originally published in 1988), presenting a single surname study of the Forrest family of Messick, Poquoson, York County, Virginia. Data has been drawn from official censuses, the York County Marriage Book, family histories, handwritten documents in the possession of family members and oral family traditions. The three Poquoson Forrest families included in this volume have been greatly expanded upon since being the subject of a single chapter in the 1988 volume. Every census record known to pertain to the Poquoson Forrests has been abstracted and cited, and the text follows each family from its earliest mention in the colonial era to the present. Individual chapters are devoted to the descendants of Abraham Forrest of Matthews County (c1780–c1865), Thomas Humphrey Forrest (c1800–c1846), Abraham Forrest of Poquoson (1812–c1873), Henry Harry Forrest (1818–1904), Henry Nathaniel Forrest (1814–c1880) and Thomas Humphrey Forrest (1835–1913). A bibliography of published works on the Poquoson District, a list of Poquoson graduates of the Virginia Military Institute, a full name index and numerous illustrations enhance the text.

Mr. Willett is related to most of the Poquoson families through his maternal Martin and Hopkins ancestors; he is a family history researcher and recognized authority on the Willett surname and on his maternal families of Poquoson, York County, Virginia.
