CD: The Ledger of Ophir Dawes of Windsor, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and Orwell, Bradford County, Pennsylvania

$7.50

This CD-ROM contains an electronic image reproduction of a ledger book covering the years 1830 to 1872. The bulk of the book, covering the years 1830-1859 was kept by Ophir Dawes of Windsor, Berkshire County, Massachusetts who moved to Orwell, Bradford County, Pennsylvania about 1840. The final pages were kept by his son, Joseph Ophir Dawes. Dawes’ primary occupations seem to have centered around working with wood. Ophir Dawes was frequently employed in making coffins. Unfortunately, the occupants of the coffins are not directly named. The images on this CD are gray-scale which provides maximum legibility, and an electronic index to the names of people and places has been added to facilitate research.
