The benefit of court records is placing a person in a certain area during a given time. These records often give no other information about an individual, except to locate him. Many of the court records are lists of jury members. To be a juror, a man had to live in the county. To be a member of the Grand Jury, a juror also had to be a county property holder. Tavern owners and millers were exempt from jury duty.
