The County of Galveston was created in 1838 from the territories of Harrisburg, Brazoria, Liberty and Jefferson Counties. These marriage records represent the first recorded in the county and therefore, are very important to the genealogical researcher and historian interested in this area of Texas. In the volume there are two listings, one of the brides and another for the grooms. Each of the alphabetical listings include the date the licenses was issued, and the names of the brides and grooms.
