CD: Appleton's Cyclopedia of American Biography: Volumes I to VI

$49.95

The Cyclopedia includes the names of more than fifteen thousand prominent native and adopted citizens of the United States from the earliest settlement of the country. Also included are the names of several thousand eminent citizens of Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and all the other countries of North and South America. The work also contains the names of nearly one thousand men of foreign birth, who, like Bishop Berkeley, Braddock, Burgoyne, Cabot, Columbus, Cornwallis, Lafayette, Montcalm, and Whitefield, are closely identified with American history. Each volume is illustrated with portraits of eminent men, including the Presidents of the United States, supplemented by between one and two thousand vignette portraits from original drawings by Jacques Reich and several hundred views of birthplaces, residences, monuments and tombs famous in history. A subject, place and fullname index, which encompasses all six volumes, is included at the end of each volume. Volumes 1-3, Aaron-Lockwood, are featured on the first CD-ROM; Volumes 4-6, Lodge-Zurita, are featured on the second.
