This volume contains marriage and death notices from the three Baptist newspapers which were published in South Carolina before and during the Civil War. The Southern Baptist and General Intelligencer (later the Southern Watchman and General Intelligencer), 1835-1837; The Southern Baptist, 1847-1860; and The Confederate Baptist, 1862-1865. Notices are not limited to Baptists. Persons included were either South Carolinians or people with very strong S.C. connections. Of interest are notices of people who had moved to other states, particularly Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and Louisiana.
