Kentuckians in the War of 1812

Elias Darnell

This volume is a combination of three different diaries of those who survived the Battle of River Raisin in 1813. The militia of Kentucky were called out to go to battle with the British and their Native American allies. They fought in several battles from 18 January to 23 January and finally the British defeated the American army under General James Winchester. There were about 547 men captured and later the Native American massacred almost 100 of the prisoners they were supposed to be guarding. This is the story as told by three survivors.
