This book contains male-line genealogies of John Hoyt of Salisbury, Massachusetts, and Simon Hoyt of Windsor and Stamford, Connecticut. The former had been treated in an earlier (1857) work which is here reproduced with extensive additions and corrections, while the Simon Hoyt family is presented here for the first time. The mention of the Hyatt families of early Connecticut is very brief. There is some account of the family in England, and various unconnected branches. The author is well-known for his extensive work on the early families of Salisbury and Amesbury, Massachusetts.
