The register is designed as an introduction to a biographical and genealogical dictionary, which shall comprehend concise sketches of distinguished individuals in the annals of New England. This work is intended to contain the names of a large portion of the First Settlers, of the most prominent, as well as the more humble. Alphabetical entries list dates and places of residence, spouses, children, occupation, and date of death. Included are additions and corrections from the New England Historical and Genealogical Register.
