These 10,600 marriages have been consolidated by the author from over 160 unique sources into one volume arranged alphabetically by groom with a brides name index. These marriages cover the years 1734-1898. Considering South Carolina did not keep official Vital Records until 1911, Mr. Pursley’s sources for producing such a work were: family Bibles, genealogies, newspapers, church records, personal papers of clergymen, probate records, tombstones, journals and other sources that are not readily availbale to the average researcher.
