Henry County is in Piedmont, VA bordering on the North Carolina line. The County was formed in 1776 from Pittsylvania County, which was cut out of Halifax in 1767. Weems, Gen. Joseph Martin, John Hill Matthews, Col. George Hairston, Mrs. Mary Catherine Hill, Col. Charles Benjamin Bryant and Patrick Henry, to name but a few); and the family histories on over 75 different families. The Appendix provides the reader with Henry County legislative petitions and other data including marriage license bonds from 1776-1800.
