Phillips County, Arkansas History and Biographical Sketches

$18.00

Originally published by Goodspeed Publishing in 1889, this reprint contains memoirs and biographies of Phillips County pioneers. Phillips County was created on May 1st 1820 and named for Sylvanus Phillips, a pioneer settler. The original county seat was called Monticello but was changed to Helena after one of the daughters of Sylvanus. This collection of materials gives a brief history of the county and then a group of biographical sketches of some of the families at the time of the writing in the mid-1880s. Because the information was compiled by the referenced family, it should be very accurate and detailed.
