First Methodist Conference in Georgia

$12.50

The first conference held by Francis Asbury in Georgia on April 9, 1788 two years after the appointment of the first two circuit riders to the area, John Major and Thomas Humphries. At the time Georgia was an outpost of the South Carolina Conference. At the time Georgia did consist of a crude district with three circuits and a Presiding Elder who along with local preachers and exhorters, was responsible for the Methodist initiative in the state.
