The Yazoo Land sales from the State of Georgia to various other states released over six million acres of lands in their western Territory in Mississippi and Alabama. The various Land companies purchased the land, then resold them only to find the title was not clear and the Federal Government had to purchase all of the land back. The claimants are from all over the United States. House of Representatives Document 110, Eighth Congress Second Session 1805.
