CD: Births, Deaths and Marriages on California's Mendocino Coast, Volumes 1-4 - Mendocino Coast Genealogy Society. Mendocino County occupies over ninety miles of California's rugged North Pacific Coast. Populated only by native peoples until 1851, a flood of immigration began when the immense stands of ancient redwood forests were discovered by entrepreneurs in 1852. In the late nineteenth century local newspapers provided a record of events important to the local population. Even after a person moved to another area, events in the individual's life were often reported. This informative series reports births, deaths and marriages for the inhabitants of Mendocino from 1889 to 1939, including the names of parents and children, bride and groom, deceased persons and surviving family members, presiding clergymen and physicians, residences, places of interment, and numerous dates. Records of Mendocino Co. men involved with military service in World War I (including their home post-office, registration, certification as fit for service, calls to duty, failures to return questionnaires or report for duty and a listing of those considered to be "slackers") and a 1927 Roll of the Dead are also included.
