Descendants of John Michael Kreider of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Tennessee

$20.00

This book follows the descendants of John Michael Kreider (1712-1761), who sailed from Germany to Philadelphia in 1732. He became a blacksmith and the owner of a grist mill in Hatfield Township in Philadelphia County, which later became Montgomery County. The author traces nine generations and follows the families as they settle in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. The family surname had changed from Krider/Kreider/Krauter to Crider in the second generation once Daniel (1744-1836) moved to Pittsylvania County, Virginia. His many children scattered as they moved westward. Many present-day Criders can trace their lineage to this family. The entries include dates of birth, death and marriage along with many interesting anecdotes and family histories. A map of Montgomery County in 1769 and a fullname index are also included.
