Named for Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland, this county was formed in 1838 out of a part of Gallatin County. The information in this volume comes from two sources, first History of Kentucky by Lewis Collins in 1882 and secondly, KENTUCKY: A History of the State by W. H. Perin, J. H. Battle and G. C. Kniffin in 1885. Due to the information for the biographical sketches coming from the individual families, the data should be fairly correct.
