William Adams (1594-1661) of Ipswich, Massachusetts, and Some of his Descendants: A History of the Ancestral Adams Lineage of Madeline (Adams) Whitehead and Descendants of John Quincy Adams of Mound City, Kansas, with Details of Related Families, Including: Dickinson, Knowlton, Leach, Locke, Burnap, Wilson, Mapes, Cochran, Whitehead, and Eaton - Revised and Expanded Second Edition - Kenneth L. Bosworth. William Adams came to Massachusetts in 1628 and settled at Ipswich sometime before 1642. This extensive new edition examines ten generations of his descendants and contains chapters on the histories of each of the related Dickinson, Knowlton, Leach, Locke, Burnap, Eliot, Wilson, Mapes, Cochran, Whitehead, and Eaton families. After the first five generations, the work focuses on the direct ancestry of Madeline Adams (born 1913), and then expands to identify most of the descendants of John Quincy Adams who was born in Boston in 1830 and was an early pioneer in Linn County, Kansas. Andrew Eliot was a juror at the witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692. The new chapter on the Eliot lineage will be of particular interest to those descendants of Quincy Adams, who married Dolly Eliot in 1800, as all will also be descendants of Andrew Eliot. The work includes a full name index and copies of many original documents: birth, death, and marriage certificates, transcripts of wills, Revolutionary and Civil War records, sketches, maps, and photographs.
