Genealogical Abstracts Revolutionary War Veterans Scrip Act 1852 - Margie G. Brown. This genealogical information was taken from the records relating to the Revolutionary War Scrip Act of 1852, Record Group 49, Bureau of Land Management. In January of 1781 by Legislative Act, Virginia yielded all of her lands Northwest of the Ohio River, "on condition that if her lands proved insufficient to cover her previously granted bounties, lands would be made available between the Scioto and Miami Rivers to honor the bounties that Virginia had granted to her veterans." Congress by an Act of the 13 September 1783 agreed to accept the cession of lands on the above condition. In March of 1852, an Act was passed by Congress to take care of all previously awarded, but unsatisfied Military Land Warrants. It was this final attempt to honor the Virginia Act of 1781, that generated 1, 689 files of mainly Virginia families. They are the basis for this book. 1990 repr 1997 with new index and new county-level place index.
