While conducting research on their own families in early Illinois newspapers, Mrs. Beals and Mrs. Kirchner realized that others could benefit from the wealth of genealogical material they had discovered. This volume is the result of their continuing efforts to make this valuable information on Illinois families available to fellow researchers and historians. The birth records and related items included here are abstracted from the Camp Point Journal and dated between the years 1873 and 1903. Records are listed alphabetically by the name of the principal subject in each entry, often either a parent or newborn, and include the date of original publication. Birth records usually list the names of at least one parent, the date of birth and the town in which the event occurred. Supplemental personal information is included wherever known. A full-name index adds to the value of this work.
