Fauquier County [Virginia] Tombstone Inscriptions, Volumes 1 and 2

$60.00

Hundreds of cemeteries have been surveyed over a period of several decades in a mammoth effort to record these tombstone inscriptions, the dates of which span nearly three centuries of Virginia history. The inscriptions in these volumes are presented just as they appear on the tombstones. In cases where only a fieldstone marker was used, the authors have made every effort to consult other sources to identify the individual interred and have noted the individual’s name. This saves the genealogist from wasting energy searching for a non-existent inscription. A surname index makes it easy to locate family plots. Within each volume, cemeteries are listed in alphabetical order, A-Z; names within the cemetery are listed in the order in which they were recorded. (Families are frequently grouped together.) Cemeteries that exclusively hold the remains of black families are so designated in the name of the cemetery. Directions are provided to the location of each cemetery.
