Tylor: *Marriage Book No. 1 1853-1937 City of Winchester, Virginia Marriage Licenses (1993). This is an index to the marriage certificates issued by the city of Winchester. Although Virginia residents predominate, there are also numerous applicants from West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Includes African Americans and Caucasians. City of Winchester, Virginia, Registers of Births Vol. 1: 1853-1860 (1991). This compilation was abstracted from the birth records of the city of Winchester, Virginia, which are housed at city hall, and are not to be found at the Frederick County Court House. The birth records presented here are all the extant city birth records for the period 1853-1860, the records for the years 1861-1864 having been lost during the Civil War. City of Winchester, Virginia, Registers of Births Vol. 2: 1865-1891 (1991). This compilation was abstracted from the birth records of the city of Winchester, Virginia, which are housed at city hall, and are not to be found at the Frederick County Court House. The birth records presented here are all the extant city birth records for the period 1865-1891. Entries include the following information where available: infant's name and line number in register, date of birth, sex, race, parents' names, and father's occupation. This volume covers the first twenty years of Winchester death records, except for the years 1884, 1885, and 1889which are missing. Winchester, Virginia, Will Abstracts, 1794-1894 (1990). Fortunately for genealogical researchers, the will books of the independent city of Winchester, Virginia, are all extant for the period 1794-1894 (except for a few pages of Book One which are missing, and a few others which are illegible) in spite of the fact that the city changed hands seventy-two times during the Civil War! Winchester, Virginia, Marriage Records, 1783-1931 (2000). This book contains marriage records from: "The Journal of Dr. Alexander Balmair", a Frederick Parish priest, 1783-1821; Winchester, Virginia's, marriage bonds, 1790-1908 and marriages from Winchester City Hall from 1853-1931. There are roughly 4,776 marriages as found in the archives of The Handley Library, Winchester Virginia as well as over 28,000 names in the index. The books are presented as graphic images, so the user sees the works just as they were originally published. They are intended to look and function very much like "real" books, i.e., the user looks for entries of interest in the table of contents or index, and then turns to the page cited and scans it for the desired information. This is accomplished using the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is included on each CD for Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Although there are no electronic indexes, numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to navigate through the books and indexes, and to jump from one book to another. This CD is best viewed with monitor resolution 800x600 or higher. 2000, CD, Graphic Images, Adobe Acrobat, v6, PC or Mac, 1312 pp. 101-CD1413 ISBN: 0788414135
