The Pierpont family line begins in Normandy in 980 with Sir Hugh De Pierrepont. Sir Robert Pierrepont, a younger son, went from France to England in 1066 as a Commander under William the Conqueror. One branch of the family carried on trade between England and Ireland, in time expanding to the Colonies in America. By 1640 the Hon. John Pierpont and his family settled for life in Roxbury, Massachusetts. His great-grandson Rev. John Pierpont is the primary subject of this genealogy which chronicles his life and family. An everyname index makes it easy to find any member of the immediate family and any of the connecting lines.
The book is presented as graphic images, so the user sees the work just as it was originally published. It is intended to look and function very much like a "real" book. There is no electronic index, and there is no electronic text to search. However, numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to move through the book. Image numbers will match the page numbers for all of the main text, as well as the index. Any unnumbered portraits and illustrations are at the back of the actual file, to keep page numbering consistent.
