Divorce records are a goldmine of information for family historians. "This compilation of Lancaster County divorces is invaluable not only for those interested in the history and genealogy of Lancaster County, but many other locations as well. When a husband or wife left their mate, they often went quite a distance." Divorce records typically contain (as available): the date and place of marriage, any previous marriages, children, other family members named as witnesses, and "next friend" (in the case of women libeling [filing] for divorce). The compiler has grouped together the entries for each case; all records are arranged chronologically by date of original filing. A surname index augments the records. The book is presented as graphic images, so the user see the work just as it was originally published. It is intended to look and function very much like a real book. There is no electronic index, and there is no electronic text to search. However, numerous electronic bookmarks have been added which make it easy to move through the book. Image numbers will match the page numbers for all of the main text, as well as the index. Any unnumbered portraits and illustrations are at the back of the actual file, to keep page numbering consistent. The electronic bookmarks and check-marked information on the Welcome Page provide links to each book listed.
