This CD is a series of publications grouped under the topic land warrants. The introduction presents information about land warrants based on acts from 1788-1897.
Second is a list of Military Bounty Land Warrants cancelled and suspended by the Commissioner of Pensions.
Third are miscellaneous letters relating to the public lands sent by the General Land Office from 1796-1889.
Fourth are letters sent by the General Land Office to Surveyors General from 1796-1901. "The Surveyors General, in discharging their executive duties relating to the survey of public lands, necessarily worked in close association with the Secretary of the Treasury before 1812 and with the Commissioner of the General Land Office from 1812 to 1901."
Fifth is a list of North Carolina Land Grants in Tennessee from 1778-1791. An estimate was needed "of the quantity and situation of the Lands not claimed by the Indians, nor granted to, nor claimed by any of the Citizens of the United States, within the Territory ceded to the United States by the State of North Carolina…"
Sixth are letters sent by the Secretary of the Treasury relating to public lands, from 1801 to 1878. The General Land Office was established in the Department of the Treasury in 1812. In 1836 the General Land Office was placed under the direction of the President of the United States until 1841 when it was placed under the Secretary of the Treasury once again.
Seventh are circular letters of the Secretary of the Treasury from 1789-1878. "The circulars were sent to collectors of customs, officers of the Revenue Service, commissioners of leans, receivers of public moneys, U. S. consuls and commercial agents, judges and attorneys, Army and Navy officers, and officers of banks, concerning the administration of their offices and the settlement and adjustment of their accounts.
