"After the issuance of a preliminary inventory, it is sometimes necessary to bring the information up to date before further study can be made. Dates or quantities of records may need to be corrected, or entries for additional series may need to be inserted. These supplements to Preliminary Inventories No. NM-19 and No. NM-45 have been prepared to take care of any such changes that should be made in the original issuance and needs to be used in conjunction with it. Corrected entries bear the original entry numbers and are in numerical order. Each entry usually contains only the title, inclusive dates, and quantity of records; the specific changes made are marked by underscoring…Additional entries bear entry numbers to which suffixes A, B, C, and so on have been added to indicate the most appropriate place in the original issuance for their insertion. Center and side headings from the original issuance are repeated when needed for guidance."
