"This work contains the Upshur County, West Virginia, births from Birth Book 1 (1853-1890), Birth Book 2 (1887-1897), and selected entries from Birth Book 3 and the Delayed Birth Book, which fell within the time frame of 1853- 1897." The authors have made no corrections to the spelling of the clerk's entries in any of the Birth Books; the names were abstracted exactly as they were written originally.
