Bay Road Presbyterian Church (est. 1850) is situated in the rolling foothills of the Adirondack Mountains 60 miles north of Albany, NY. Just 80 years previous to the beginnings of this story, the Bay Road Presbyterian Church locale was rife with Rogers' Rangers, British Redcoat regulars, and the French and Native Americans, spying on, raiding, and battling each other during the French and Indian War. This is a classic mid-1800s tale of emigration across the Atlantic, of Scottish pioneers creating a community and church out of a wilderness. Several of these families were related by marriage, as shown in the genealogical sketches of the Bells, Alstons, Lauders, Lockharts, Orrs, Hannas, Laings, Kirkpatricks and Burnetts. A family history of the founding pastor, Reverend David Wishart French, is also included.
