Three Under a Tree is a fact filled, historically accurate fictionalized account of the lives of the last soldier killed in the Civil War and the last American soldiers killed in World War I and Vietnam. While much of the information comes from interviews with the family of the last soldier killed in Vietnam and the numerous archives of data available on all of the men, the reader will best come to know the heroes of this work by sharing the unique alternating "conversations" between the three. Not knowing where they are nor the purpose for which they've come together, each explores the details of their lives from the earliest days up to and including their military careers. Eventually, "baring their souls each to the other" leads to answers they and the reader so desperately seek. Additionally, page after page of photos both introduces these men and gives a sense of what each man faced in the midst of their respective dreadful conflicts.
