Four volumes, each covering five years, comprise this vast collection of selected articles from The Potter Enterprise of Coudersport, Pennsylvania, from 1880 to 1899. Volume I contains items of interest for the years 1880-1884. The Potpourri series includes births, marriages and divorces, deaths (including suicides and homicides), crimes and court minutes, disasters such as fires and floods, real estate transactions, politics and elections, holidays and celebrations, military and soldier news, education, church, society and fraternal events, farming and agriculture, lumbering, merchants and businesses and advertising. Soldier lists, school reports, jury lists, advertised letters, township statistics and a variety of other items are also included. These are not simply newspaper abstracts, but entire articles selected for their genealogical and historical value. Business directories list attorneys, physicians, hotels, stage lines, surveyors, dentists, restaurants, tailors, painters, schools and more. The items are presented chronologically with a surname index at the end of each volume.
