$29.50

This informative volume contains abstracts of death records for Washington County, Tennessee, for the years 1908-1916. Washington County was established in 1777 as a part of the Territory South of the Ohio River, and is "one of the most important early East Tennessee counties." The original county comprised almost the entire eastern half of the current state of Tennessee. Many entries are for descendants of the original pioneer families who settled Washington County. Names are listed according to the death record number which corresponds to the official death record number on file at the Tennessee State Archives. In addition to the deceased's name and date of death, the records contain the following information: "Where the reported place of birth is different from the local county, the place of birth is stated. Name spelling variations have been preserved. Where possible, the cause of death is quoted as it appears in the record. Parenthetical entries following parents' names indicate the reported place of the parents' birth. Parenthetical entries following the informant's name indicate place of residence."
