This work contains over 8,000 death record abstracts, beginning in 1908 when death records were first filed in Greene County. Typically included in each of the early records are the name of the deceased, age at death, the cause of death, date of death, and a death record number which corresponds to the reference number on file in the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Additional information which appears in many of the later records includes place of burial of the deceased, parents' names, informant's name and place of residence, and place of birth of the deceased if outside Greene County.
