Marriage Records of Dover, New Hampshire, 1910-1937

$34.00

A valuable, but time-consuming, source of information for events occurring after 1886 is the section of vital statistics, which is provided in the Annual Town Reports of many New Hampshire towns. The amount of information published varies tremendously over time. Early records are far more detailed and comprehensive than recent records. The information that is reported contemporaneously and which is contained in the annual reports varies during the time period covered by this book. Some records are limited to the names of the bride and groom, the date of the marriage, and the residence of each. Other records may also include the place of marriage, age at marriage, birthplace of each, occupation of each, first name of parents, and number of the marriage (first unless otherwise indicated), or whether the party was divorced or widowed. In some years, Maine couples accounted for nearly one-third of the marriages reported in Dover. Entries are listed alphabetically by the surname of the groom followed by an alphabetical listing of brides by surname.
