The eighth volume in this series, collecting the legal miscellany of the colony of New Plymouth as transcribed by Nathaniel Shurtleff from the handwritten documents of Secretary Nathaniel Morton. Contained in this volume are the oldest existing records of marriages in Plymouth Colony, very few of which were able to be saved from the decaying originals. Included along with these marriage announcements and intentions are extensive Treasurers' Accounts for the years 1658 to 1686, as well as several lists of freemen, jury registers, appointments to committees, memberships in special committees, nominations for public office, election results, lists of constabulary, and assorted materials relating to the workings of the colonial courts. A concise compilation of day-to-day judicial records and pertinent genealogical material on colonial New England.
