Will books are one of the best resources for determining family relationships in genealogy research. This volume contains entries from Fairfax County, Virginia Will Book G, 1794-1799, beginning on page 377 and ending on page 484 for courts held 21 May 1798 through 15 July 1799; and, Fairfax County, Virginia Will Book H, 1799-1801, beginning on page 1 and ending on page 249 for courts held through 20 July 1801. The first entry in Will Book H is the will of George Washington written at Mount Vernon and dated 9 July 1799; brought into the Fairfax County Court held 20 January 1800.
In addition to the full name of the deceased, these records offer a rich source of names, which may include spouse, children, relatives, witnesses, and/or others. The bequests listed in the wills also provide a fascinating look at possessions during this time period. An every-name and place index adds to the value of this work.
