Listings of residents who held office, deaths and births through 1800, merchants, and professional men are included. Just over one-third of the book is dedicated to a series of twenty-seven biographical sketches of prominent citizens. These generally present a glowing description of the character of the subject, his or her accomplishments, offices held, and family notes.
