The Descendants of Jacob and Mary Moomey of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, and Iowa - Dale Webster. This book covers seven generations and more than 300 descendants of Jacob and Mary Moomey. The Moomey family was among the many German immigrants to come into Maryland and Pennsylvania in the late 1700s. Jacob, born 1789 in Pennsylvania, and Mary, born 1792 in Maryland, were married in Ohio in 1811. They had nine children. In 1851 Jacob's family and some of his married children moved to Iowa, when he was granted bounty land for his service in the War of 1812. Their children's generation participated in the expansion of the United States to new frontiers. They also lived through the horrors of the Civil War. They were pioneers who settled in the wilderness and overcame many obstacles to raise their families. Presented in the Modified Register style, this genealogy has been compiled mostly from primary source documents. It reveals interesting historical background and, when possible, extensive biographical sketches of some of the more active descendants. Maps showing relevant locations are included to assist in understanding the movements of the descendants. A fullname index is provided, which lists women under their married names as well as their maiden names.
