This book traces nine generations of the Weed family, beginning with Jonas Weed, who arrived in the New World in 1630. The family left Connecticut to move to Newburgh, New York, in the 1760s and eventually settled in Walker Valley, New York, where many of Jonas' descendants still live today. The book not only tells of the Weeds of this southern Ulster County town but also of other Weed families that spread across the country as the United States grew. This genealogy reference book has been compiled with extensive research using old family notes, bible records, newspaper articles, and interviews, along with research from historical and genealogical societies. Included in this book is the discovery of one particular family line for which the author could not find previous documentation. Photos and short stories enhance and enliven each generation.
