The 1850 Federal Census is one of the most valuable of the early census since it contains the names of all the people living in a household. In this volume the maiden name of the wife, if known, has been added. This latter information has been gleaned from the early marriage records, probate records, wills, Civil War pensions, cemetery, and other family records. Additional information listed are "N/S" for those who have no schooling and "I/S" for those attending school within this year. The family/household number is given for ease of researching on the original microfilm.
