Bienville Parish, located in the northwestern portion of the state was created on 14 March 1848 by the Louisiana State Legislature out of portions of Claiborne Parish. It was named in honor of the French Canadian explorer Jean-Baptiste LeMoyne, Sieur de Bienville, governor of French Louisiana. In this volume you will find a brief history of the parish and also a collection of biographical sketches of some of the early families.
