$15.00

Van Zandt County, Texas was created in 1848 out of the territory of Harrison County. It was named for Isaac Van Zandt who had moved to Harrison County in 1839 and served his state well. He was a charge d'affairs to the United States being appointed in 1842 by President Houston. He died in 1847 while running for Governor of the State he helped to form. These marriage records are probably the first set of records to survive for various reasons. They are listed chronologically by date and the names of the bride and groom are given.
