Burke County, Georgia was created on February 5, 1777. The records here have been salvaged from a number of Court House fires when almost all of the records have been destroyed. The fires occurred in 1835, 1843, 1856 and 1870. Some of these records are too dim to read, but those that could be read were very readable.
