Lee County is located in the southwestern portion of the state. The land that became Lee county was ceded by the Creek people in the 1825 Treaty of Indian Springs. The county's boundaries were created by the Georgia General Assembly on June 9, but it was not named until December 14, 1826. The county was named in honor of Richard Henry Lee. The family sketches of this material were submitted by the families themselves.
