Oglethorpe County, located in the upper eastern portion of the state, is named for Georgia's founder, James Oglethorpe. The county was founded on December 19, 1793. Contains the biographical entries from two sources Memoirs of Georgia and Historical Collection of Georgia, both by George White. The biographical portions were submitted by the families themselves.
