Owen County, Kentucky History and Biographies

Owen County was created in 1819 from parts of Scott, Franklin, and Gallatin Counties and named for Colonel Abraham Owen (1769-1811), Indian fighter and a Kentucky legislator, who was killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe. The information for this volume comes from two sources, first, History of Kentucky by Lewis Collins written in 1882 and second, KENTUCKY: A History of the State by W. H. Perin, J. H. Battle and G. C. Kniffin written in 1885. Since most of the information for this volume comes from the families themselves, they should be more accurate than other records.
