Owen County, Kentucky History and Biographies

$10.00

Owen County, Kentucky was created in 1819 from parts of Scott, Franklin, and Gallatin Counties and named for Colonel Abraham Owen (1769-1811), Indian fighter and a Kentucky legislator, who was killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe. The material in this volume was gleaned from two sources. The first is History of Kentucky by Lewis Collins, published in 1882 and the second source is Kentucky: A History of the State by W. H. Perrin, J. H. Battle and G. C. Kniffin published in 1885. These two books set the standard for Kentucky history and pioneer biographies. Most of the biographical material was submitted by the individuals or their families and therefore, should be more accurate than other sources.
