Washington County, Kentucky was created in 1792 out of Nelson County and was the first county created after Kentucky became a state. It was named for George Washington. The information was taken from two sources. The first was History of Kentucky written by Lewis Collins in 1882 and the second was KENTUCKY: A History of the State written by W. H. Perrin, J. H. Battle, and G. C. Kniffin in 1885. Most of the biographical material was submitted by the person in the sketch, so the information should be very accurate.
